Life rarely feels as simple as it first appears.
Many of us find ourselves replaying conversations, questioning our reactions, wondering what others meant, or feeling caught in the same relationship patterns despite our best efforts to change.
The Holding Room offers something different.
Rather than rushing toward answers, advice, or quick solutions, this reflective psychotherapy group creates space to slow down, stay curious, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself, others, and the patterns that shape your life.
The Holding Room is named for the idea that meaningful understanding often develops when we resist the urge to rush toward certainty and instead remain with complexity long enough for something new to emerge.
Many of the patterns that shape our lives happen in relationships.
While individual therapy offers valuable insight, a psychotherapy group provides something unique: the opportunity to notice those patterns as they unfold in real time with other people.
Rather than simply talking about relationships, members have the opportunity to better understand themselves through relationships.
The Holding Room is a small, therapist-facilitated reflective psychotherapy group for adults seeking deeper emotional and relational growth.
Each week, members bring emotionally meaningful experiences into the group—conversations, conflicts, disappointments, misunderstandings, or moments that continue to stay with them long after they occur.
Together, the group slows these experiences down and explores them from multiple perspectives.
Instead of asking, "Who's right?"
We begin asking,
"What else might be happening?"
Over time, members often discover that as their ability to understand themselves and others becomes more flexible, their relationships become healthier, their emotional reactions become less overwhelming, and their sense of self becomes more integrated.
Many therapy groups focus on support, coping skills, or problem-solving.
The Holding Room focuses on something different:
Rather than simply solving problems, The Holding Room is designed to develop a greater capacity to understand yourself, other people, and the patterns that unfold between them.
Rather than offering advice or quick solutions, members learn to:
Slow down before reaching conclusions.
Become curious about their own thoughts and emotions.
Consider multiple perspectives.
Understand relationship patterns.
Strengthen emotional regulation through reflection.
Develop greater flexibility in how they experience themselves and others.
The goal is not simply to feel better.
The goal is to understand more deeply.
The Holding Room may be a good fit if you:
✓ Replay conversations long after they happen.
✓ Feel caught in repeating relationship patterns.
✓ Become stuck in all-or-nothing thinking.
✓ Want more than coping skills—you want understanding.
✓ Find yourself wondering why the same struggles continue to repeat.
✓ Value curiosity more than certainty.
✓ Are willing to thoughtfully consider perspectives that differ from your own.
✓ Are interested in meaningful personal growth through shared reflection.
Each 75-minute meeting begins with members identifying emotionally meaningful experiences from their week.
A member brings a conversation that has stayed with them all week.
Together, the group slows the interaction down.
Rather than deciding who was right or wrong, members become curious about assumptions, emotions, misunderstandings, and the different meanings each person may have experienced.
Often, something entirely unexpected begins to emerge.
Rather than solving problems, the group works together to develop a richer understanding of the experience.
Every person's story becomes an opportunity for everyone to grow.
The culture of The Holding Room is built upon several shared commitments.
We strive to:
Remain curious before becoming certain.
Seek understanding before judgment.
Slow down before reacting.
Respect differing perspectives.
Distinguish observations from interpretations.
Recognize that every person's experience is more complex than it first appears.
Create a community where thoughtful reflection can develop safely over time.

Reserving Your Place
Because The Holding Room is a closed psychotherapy group with limited enrollment, your place is reserved specifically for you.
To confirm your participation, payment for the first month of group sessions is due upon acceptance into the group. Once payment is received, your space will be reserved for the upcoming cohort.
Monthly payments are then due on the 1st of each month for the duration of your participation.
Reserving your place in advance helps ensure that the group begins with a stable and committed membership, allowing all participants to enter the experience together.
The Holding Room is designed for individuals who are emotionally stable enough to thoughtfully participate in a reflective psychotherapy group.
This group may not be the best fit if you are currently experiencing:
An acute psychiatric crisis.
Active suicidal intent requiring crisis intervention.
Significant substance intoxication during sessions.
A need for immediate advice or crisis stabilization.
Difficulty participating consistently in a weekly group.
If another form of treatment would better meet your current needs, I will gladly discuss appropriate recommendations with you.
Do I have to share every week?
No.
Many members begin by listening more than speaking. Participation develops naturally as trust grows.
Will people give me advice?
No.
The goal is not to tell one another what to do, but to help one another think more deeply about emotionally meaningful experiences.
Can I participate if I'm already in individual therapy?
Yes.
Many members continue individual therapy while participating in The Holding Room.
With your written permission, coordination with your individual therapist may occur when clinically appropriate.
Can I participate if you are already my therapist?
Possibly.
Current individual therapy clients may be appropriate for the group following discussion and clinical assessment.
To protect everyone's privacy, I will never disclose whether another group member is also an individual therapy client.
What if I miss a session?
Because each member reserves one of a limited number of places within the group, regular attendance is encouraged.
Membership fees reserve your place in the group rather than attendance at individual sessions.
Repeated absences will be discussed collaboratively to determine whether continued participation remains beneficial for both you and the group.
What if I decide the group isn't right for me?
Participation is voluntary and ending is discussed thoughtfully. Departures are handled intentionally.
How do I join?
Participation begins with a readiness consultation.
This conversation allows us to determine whether The Holding Room is likely to be a good fit for your current goals and to thoughtfully compose a group that supports meaningful reflection and growth.
Some questions aren't meant to be answered quickly.
They're meant to be explored.
If you're looking for a place to slow down, reflect, and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships, The Holding Room may be the right next step.
